Meet Our Doctors

Michael E. Meininger, M.D.

Dr. Michael E. Meininger received his B.S. with honors from Binghamton University and graduated with honors from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center. He subsequently completed his Gastroenterology training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Meininger focuses his practice on all aspects of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and has advanced training and expertise in Capsule Endoscopy and Advanced Nutrition Support. He is board-certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine and has been in private practice since 2002.

Dr. Meininger is a Past President of the New Jersey Gastroenterology Society and has been voted by both peers and patients as one of America’s Top Gastroenterologists and Physicians. He currently serves as an Associate Medical Director of the Institute for Patient Blood Management and Bloodless Medicine and Surgery at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Meininger is an Attending Physician at both Englewood Hospital and Medical Center and Holy Name Medical Center. He also serves as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Richard K. Chessler, M.D.

Dr. Richard K. Chessler received his M.D. from the Chicago Medical School in 1969. He completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the New York Medical College – Flower and Fifth Avenue Hospital in New York City. He is board-certified, as well as a Diplomate in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Chessler is a Past Associate Chief and Chief of Endoscopy at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. He has been elected to the Board of Governors of the American College of Gastroenterology for the State of New Jersey and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Practical Gastroenterology. Dr. Chessler is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Both New Jersey Monthly and U.S. News and World Report have named him a “Top Doc” as voted by his peers. In addition, he has been recognized by Castle Connolly for the last 11 years as one of the New York Metro Area’s Best Doctors. Dr. Chessler has been in practice since 1974 and has specialized expertise in disorders of the gallbladder and colon, pancreatic cancer and invasive biliary endoscopy.

Barry M. Zingler, M.D.

Dr. Barry M. Zingler received his B.S. from the University of Michigan and graduated with honors from Rutgers Medical School. His Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Gastroenterology were completed at New York University/Bellevue Medical Center. He is board-certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine and has been in private practice since 1990.

Dr. Zingler is a past President of the New Jersey Gastroenterology Society. He has been voted by his peers to New Jersey Monthly’s Top Docs list; first in 1996 and then again from 2006 through 2011. Dr. Zingler has been listed in New York Magazine as one of the region’s Best Doctors. Castle Connolly has also listed Dr. Zingler as one of the Best Doctors in the New York Metro Area for the past 15 years. He is presently Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, an Attending Physician at Holy Name Medical Center and Clinical Instructor of Internal Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Marc A. Fiorillo, M.D.

Dr. Marc A. Fiorillo received his B.S. with honors from Binghamton University and earned his M.D. with honors from Chicago Medical School in 2001. He completed his Internship, Residency and Chief Residency in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, and subsequently completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship training at the same institution. He is Board Certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine and licensed to practice in both New Jersey and New York.

Dr. Fiorillo joined Advanced Gastroenterology of Bergen County in 2008. While proficient in all aspects of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, he has a particular interest in pancreatic disorders and he performs endoscopic ultrasound with fine needle aspiration. He is the current President of the New Jersey Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Society.

Mitchell K. Spinnell, M.D.

Dr. Mitchell K. Spinnell earned his M.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine in 1991. He completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine – Montefiore Medical Center, where he was also Chief Resident in Internal Medicine. He subsequently completed his Gastroenterology training at same institution in 1999. Dr. Spinnell is board-certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine and is licensed to practice in both the State of New Jersey and the State of New York.

Dr. Spinnell is an Attending Physician at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, where he serves on the Medical Executive Committee as well. He is also an Attending Physician at Holy Name Medical Center. He is a Clinical Instructor of Internal Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He has a particular interest in Clinical Research, most recently conducting studies involving Crohn’s Disease, C. Diff and GERD. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Gastroenterological Society.
